This event will be held in Room 100 of the ATLAS Building on CU-Boulder campus
A major symposium is planned for Saturday, April 9, 2011 in conjunction with the CU Art Museum exhibition on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus. The symposium will feature presentations by many of the Chinese and American artists participating in the exhibition who work and reside in Colorado’s Aspen valley; Houston, Texas; New York City; as well as in Beijing, China and Shanghai, China. The symposium and exhibition are designed to facilitate cross-cultural dialogue and discussion about artistic concerns, aesthetic approaches, and relationships of art to society in both China and the United States.This exhibition is generously supported in part by the Compton
Foundation, the NBT Charitable Trust, the CU Art Museum benefactors and
members, as well as by the CU Boulder Student Arts and Cultural
Enrichment (ACE) fees. Additional support for the related symposium was
also generously provided by the James and Rebecca Roser Visiting Artist
Program and by the Center for Asian Studies, University of Colorado at
Boulder. Organization of the exhibition and symposium was directed by Lisa
Tamiris Becker, Director, CU Art Museum. Special thanks to Julie
Segraves of the Asian Art Coordinating Council of Denver for assistance
with coordination of the exhibition and symposium.
